City plans to rebuild bridge over paddle boat pond at Julia Davis Park

The bridge in Julia Davis Park that extends over the paddle boat pond could be torn down.

Boise Parks and Recreation is planning to rebuild the structure as a part of the department’s 2023 maintenance and repair plan.

The project calls for demolishing the old bridge, rebuilding it, and making improvements to the roadway and parking lot.

The project application noted that parts of the project are within the floodplain.

“Although portions of the project are situated within the floodplain and floodway overlay, these areas are fully developed within the park and should be considered Class C lands and waters. The areas underneath and adjacent to the bridge structure project provide minimal, if any, natural resource value to the Boise River Corridor,” the application letter said.

The Boise Parks and Recreation Commission and Boise City Council reviewed the bridge project when the Boise Parks and Recreation Capital Improvement plan and budget were adopted last year.

The application said Parks and Rec intend to “proceed immediately” as construction drawings have been approved.
